DODSON CONCLUDES SILVER CROWN™ TOUR WITH “COPPER WORLD CLASSIC” WIN

Cameron Dodson, the young racing standout from Indiana, capped his rookie K&N USAC Silver Crown™ season with Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies with a win at the prestigious “Copper World Classic”.  Dodson, 19, started alongside polesitter Jerry Coons, Jr., for the historic series’ finale and led the most laps during the 100 circuits around the one-mile oval of Phoenix International Raceway.

Dodson maintained an aggressive pace in his No. 199 Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies’ fielded Red Line Oil C&R Ford as spotter and car owner Carl Edwards guided him to his first USAC Silver Crown™ career victory.  The Hoosier native maintained a command over the Rookie of the Year point standings as well as a Top-5 standing in owner’s points and a sixth place effort in the title hunt.  Dodson and the No. 199 team earned one win, four podium finishes, six Top-5s and eight Top-10s in a dozen starts as well as fast qualifier honors at New Hampshire International Speedway.

“I am very thankful to have the opportunity to drive for Carl (Edwards) and Chris (Santucci) from Carl Edwards Racing/R.E. Technologies and earn a win for them at the Copper World Classic.  The entire team and all of our sponsors – R.E. Technologies,  Red Line Oil, Hoosier Tire, The Wax Shop, Mechanix Wear, Ford Racing, LaJoie of Seating and C&R Chassis – have been so supportive that I can’t show enough gratitude.  This team deserves to be nowhere but in victory lane,” commented a jubilant Dodson.

“It is always a relief when I have Carl as my spotter because he gives me so much feedback about the tracks and driving style,” Cameron added.  “I have learned a lot this season and all of the laps that I have been able to get at tracks that the touring stockcar series’, IRL and NASCAR compete on are priceless!  This experience will help me continue to advance my career and I was fortunate to work with the best team out there.  It was nice to end our 2007 season with a win at a historic event and have that momentum going in to 2008.”

“We are very proud of the performance that Cameron gave us this year,” added R.E. Technologies’ team manager Chris Santucci.  “He has a natural talent and maturity that exceeds his age.  We are confident that he has a bright future ahead of him and as a team are pleased with our performances and working relationships.  To end our season with a win at an event as prominent as the Copper World Classic and to have Carl on hand for that is a great boost going in to the off season.”

With his 2007 USAC Silver Crown™ season complete, Cameron will now focus on off-season preparations for an exciting and ambitious 2008 tour.
