DODSON SUBS FOR EDWARDS IN ORP SILVER CROWN™ DEBUT

GREENFIELD, IN (July 25, 2007) – The Indianapolis community comes to life for the Brickyard 400 weekend and eighteen year-old Hoosier hotshoe Cameron Dodson has had an eventful week leading up to his hometown USAC Silver Crown™ debut.  Dodson, of nearby Greenfield, IN, regularly pilots the R.E. Technologies Ford-powered C&R #199 owned by NASCAR star Carl Edwards but was slotted to wheel a different entry for this week’s “J.D. Byrider 100” at O’Reilly Raceway Park as Edwards planned to drive the #199.  However, Edwards suffered a dislocated thumb in a dirt late model accident last Sunday and has opted to put Dodson back in the seat for the one-hundred circuits around the 0.686-mi paved oval.

Dodson drove a USAC Sprint car at the Clermont, IN, speedplant when he earned a seventh place finish back in June.  Thursday’s “J.D. Byrider 100” will kick off a hectic weekend of racing in conjunction with the historic Brickyard 400 and will also be a prelude to Dodson’s nineteenth birthday.

“I am looking forward to my first USAC Silver Crown™ start at ORP and being a part of this weekend’s racing action,” commented Dodson, who will turn 19 on Saturday.  “I am so honored to be a part of the Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies team – no driver could ask for a better prepared car than the one they provide me every week and a more knowledgeable crew.  I hate it for Carl that he got hurt and has to miss this race because I know he was looking forward to it.  I wish him a full recovery and he’s a tough competitor so I don’t look for it to impact his performance behind the wheel.  Fortunately for me he is still being at the track and I always enjoy being able to have him here for guidance and advice – hopefully we can deliver a strong finish.”

Dodson and the #199 Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies/Hoosier Tire/C&R Ford team enter this Thursday’s “J.D. Byrider 100” event leading both owner and Rookie of the Year points and a solid fourth place standing in the driver’s championship rankings.  Racing action for the USAC Silver Crown™ Series kicks off on Thursday, July 26, 2007, with a one-hour practice session from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., qualifying at 7 p.m. and a driver’s autograph session preceding the drop of the green flag at 8:30 p.m.  For more information on Cameron Dodson, log on to http://www.camerondodson.com and complete event schedules are available on http://www.usacracing.com
