DODSON REUNITES WITH CARL EDWARDS/R.E. TECHNOLOGIES FOR USAC SILVER CROWN™ DEBUT AT HOMESTEAD
GREENWOOD, IN (March 12, 2007) - Eighteen year-old Cameron Dodson may be young but he has already competed in more premier divisions than most veteran drivers. Both winged and non-winged sprint cars, midgets, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and even the PRA Big Car division. But Dodson is ready to add another ‘first’ with is USAC Silver Crown™ debut at the upcoming event hosted at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Indiana-based race prodigy was tapped by the Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Racing team for his first appearance on the PRA circuit last December at Lakeland’s (FL) USA International Raceway. The team earned an impressive 8th place finish in their first venture together.
The open-wheeled powerhouse stable of Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies team once again came knocking at Dodson’s door for 2007. The team will kick off their USAC Silver Crown™ season together at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday, March 23, 2007, and will announce their additional events with Cameron in the near future as schedules are finalized. Dodson made his first USAC Silver Crown™ Series on-track appearance at Homestead on Monday in the No. 199 Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies machine and turned the second quickest lap of the day at a blistering speed of 168.382 mph.
“We are real excited to have Cameron drive for us again,” commented Chris Santucci, team manager of Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Racing. “He did a great job for us in Lakeland, FL, and showed a lot of potential at our Homestead test. He is one of the most mature 18 year olds that I have been around. I have heard a lot about him for years and it seems like he has been around a lot longer than he has. He has the right tools, both mentally and physically, to get the job done and with the right opportunities, I would not be surprised if he comes out competing for the win. If he races as well as he prepares himself, it will not be long before a NASCAR team comes calling.”
“I am really grateful to Chris and everyone at R.E. Technologies and the entire Carl Edwards team for giving me another opportunity to drive for them in the USAC Silver Crown™ Series,” Dodson added. “This team has top notch equipment and crew members and is coming off of a USAC Silver Crown™ dirt win already this season, so I hope to deliver as a driver. We had a great test at Homestead and I really like the handling of the new Silver Crown™ cars. Hopefully we can have a strong finish at this event to reenergize the momentum we had in December and have a good showing for our sponsors.”
Dodson will pilot the #199 Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies C&R Chassis with backing from Ford Racing, Redline Oil, Hoosier Tire, The Wax Shop and Mechanix Wear at the USAC Silver Crown™ Race hosted at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday, March 23, 2007.
